What is M.A.T.?
The New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) has specific regulations regarding the administration of medication in child day care settings. These regulations stipulate that all child day care programs must adhere to certain conditions if they administer medication, excluding over-the-counter topical ointments, sunscreen, and insect repellent.
To comply with these requirements, childcare programs must employ staff members who are approved to administer medication in a childcare setting. OCFS has approved the following Medication Administration Training (M.A.T.) course to help providers meet this requirement.
Course Objectives:
* Understand the OCFS regulations related to medication administration in child day care settings

* Develop procedures for safely and effectively administering medication to children in a childcare setting

Target Audience:
